A 19-year-old Ajax man is facing weapons and drug charges after Durham police searched a home in Pickering as part of a firearm investigation.
Tuan Ubayd Badurdeen was arrested inside the residence and taken into custody without incident, Durham Regional Police said. The search followed an investigation by the service's Drug Enforcement Unit, which wrapped up in early July 2026.
Officers executed the warrant with help from the Tactical Support Unit. According to police, the search turned up a Glock auto sear switch, along with drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police say the accused was on weapons prohibition conditions at the time of his arrest.
Charges laid
Badurdeen is charged with possession of a prohibited device, two counts of possessing a prohibited device while prohibited, failing to comply, and possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
None of the allegations have been proven in court. Police noted in their release that the information comes from an active investigation.
