Pickering residents can once again have open-air fires, as the City of Pickering has lifted a city-wide fire ban that took effect earlier this month.
The ban was implemented on July 14, 2026, according to the City of Pickering, in response to a stretch of prolonged high temperatures.
The city said at the time that the restriction was put in place to support the ongoing safety of the community.
With the ban now lifted, outdoor burning is no longer prohibited under the temporary restriction. Residents are encouraged to stay informed of any future city notices, as conditions can change during periods of extreme heat.
The City of Pickering posts updates, news and public notices on its website at pickering.ca, where residents can also subscribe to receive municipal announcements directly.
