Pickering's indoor tennis courts will be off limits for nearly three weeks this fall as the city carries out repair work at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex.

According to the City of Pickering, the courts will be closed from Monday, October 19 through Friday, November 6, 2026, to allow crews to fix concrete cracks and redo the court surfacing. The courts are scheduled to reopen for play on Saturday, November 7.

What players need to know

The shutdown means indoor tennis will be unavailable at the complex for just under three weeks, including the final two weeks of October and the first week of November.

The city says anyone with a tennis membership will not lose out on the closure period. Tennis members will receive a membership extension equal to the duration of the shutdown, so their access to the courts is paused rather than shortened.

Where to direct questions

Residents looking for more information about the project or their memberships can reach Arisa Marangos, acting senior project manager of capital projects in the city's Community Services Department, at 905-420-4660 ext. 5237.

Questions can also be directed to the city's service disruption line at 1-866-278-9993.

The repair work targets the wear that has developed in the indoor courts' concrete, with crews sealing cracks and applying new surfacing before the space reopens on November 7.
